WHAT a way to start a new year!
On the very first day of 2025 (January 01) the fuel prices will increase.
A litre of petrol will cost you more than what you are used to.
These are the new prices as of January 1st.
• Petrol 93 ULP & LRP will increase by 19.00 cents per litre.
• Petrol 95 ULP & LRP will increase by 12.00 cents per litre
• Diesel (0.05% Sulphur) will increase by 7.50 cents per litre
• Diesel (0.005% Sulphur) will increase by 10.50 cents per litre.
• LPG: Maximum retail price will increase by 13.00 cents per kg.
• Illuminating paraffin will decrease by 9.50 cents per litre.
• Single Maximum National Retail Price (SMNRP) will decrease by 13.00 cents per litre
The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources announced these fuel price adjustments, adding that South Africa’s fuel prices are adjusted monthly, informed by international and local factors.
“International factors include the fact that South Africa imports both crude oil and finished products at a price set at the international level, including importation costs and shipping costs, among others,” said the Department.
Chairman of the South African Petroleum Retailers Association (SAPRA), Henry van der Merwe, said the fuel price increases will place additional strain on motorists.
He said this adjustment is particularly challenging for businesses and consumers alike.
Henry urged all South Africans to adapt their fuel usage wherever possible and explore ways to mitigate the effects of rising costs.
