BEFORE the year draws to a close, South African roads will welcome a striking new arrival—the facelifted Renault Kiger.
Bold, beautiful, and now even safer with the inclusion of six airbags across the range, the updated Kiger is set to turn heads while keeping passengers better protected.
While no mechanical changes have been made under the hood, the most noticeable updates are on the outside.
The facelift introduces a refreshed front end featuring a sleek, thin grille similar to that of the updated Renault Captur and Clio, flanked by new LED headlight clusters.
A redesigned front bumper, rounded lower air intake, more prominent fog lamps, a new skid plate, and Renault’s latest diamond logo enhance its modern and muscular stance.
Stylish new alloy wheels, up to 16 inches in size, add to the SUV’s urban appeal. Around the back, the Kiger sports a restyled bumper and blackened taillight clusters, adding a sporty edge.
Already launched in India, the facelifted Kiger will be offered in South Africa in four trim levels: Authentic, Evolution, Techno, and Emotion.
The Authentic variant, despite being the base model, comes decently equipped with features like LED lighting, power windows, manual air conditioning, keyless entry, and six airbags with ESP.
However, it maintains a simple aesthetic, lacking an infotainment system and riding on steel wheels without covers.
Moving up, the Evolution trim introduces a range of practical additions including an 8-inch touchscreen with wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a rear parking camera, and a four-speaker sound system.
It also adds rear air vents, a tilt-adjustable steering wheel with audio controls, electrically adjustable side mirrors, and a rear parcel shelf, while exterior upgrades include a shark-fin antenna and black door handles.
The Techno variant elevates the Kiger’s look and feel with projector LED headlamps, roof rails, silver skid plates, and stylised wheel covers. Inside, small but thoughtful enhancements like a twin glovebox, vanity mirror, and seatback pocket improve practicality.
Key features include automatic climate control, push-button start, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, and electrically folding mirrors. The infotainment system is upgraded to support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and safety is boosted with the addition of a rear wiper and washer.
Topping the range is the Emotion trim, which offers a more premium and sophisticated package.
On the exterior, it stands out with dual-tone alloy wheels and, on turbo-petrol versions, sporty chrome and red accents. The cabin receives a luxurious makeover with leatherette upholstery, ambient lighting, a cooled glovebox, and a fully digital 7-inch driver’s display.
Additional features include ventilated front seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, cruise control, a wireless charging pad, and remote engine start (exclusive to turbo variants).
Convenience and safety are further enhanced with a multi-view camera system, automatic headlamps, and a rear defogger.
South African pricing for the new Renault Kiger facelift will be announced soon.
With its refreshed styling, added features, and improved safety credentials, the Kiger is gearing up to be a serious contender in the compact SUV segment.
