THERE was hope in the air as fuel prices had been decreasing for five months in a row.
Although this is expected to change this month, November, motorists enjoyed the decreases.
Motorists are told to brace themselves for fuel hikes, according to unaudited information from the Central Energy Fund (CEF).
CEF said 95 Unleaded petrol is set to increase by 25 cents per litre while 93 Unleaded to increase by 14 cents per litre.
Diesel prices are expected to go up by 20 cents (50ppm) to 22 cents (500ppm),
This means that the price of 95 Unleaded will go up to around R20, 50 at the coast and R21, 30 in the inland regions. 93 Unleaded is expected to hit R20, 87.

The Automobile Association said this month’s expected fuel price hikes are largely a result of international oil prices increasing sharply towards the middle of October.
Cartrends spoke a few drivers about their take on the hikes.
Dumsani Khumalo said he uses a taxi to work, from Protea Glen to Joburg CBD.
“I pay R27 for a single trip at the moment but I know that the taxi fare will increase when fuel price increases. Judging by what one is earning, we will end up working for transport.”
Lindiwe Xulu said she was happy when the fuel price kept on decreasing in the past few months.
“It gave us a chance to breathe. We were hoping it could stay like that for some time, at least all the way into the New Year.”
She said she stays in the south of Joburg and works in Fourways. “A Full tank only lasts me a week and costs me a thousand bucks.
“With this hike, I am sure I will have to dig even deeper into my pocket,” said Lindiwe.
Nhlanhla Nzuza said he works in Sandton.
“To avoid spending much on fuel, my colleagues and I have decided to start a lift club. We use one transport each week. At least that saves us money,” he said.
